Cleaning Tips: Start with the Carpets Between Cleaning Appointments
May 1, 2014
When someone comes into your home...they will notice your flooring right away. So if you don't have time for a full-out cleaning day between cleaning appointments, Mashpee Cleaning Services suggests that you start with your carpets.
So...Here's the Basics...
Carpets need to be vacuumed once a week and more often in areas of heavy traffic. Frequent vacuuming adds to both the longevity and durability of your carpet by preventing a buildup of gritty particles that can cut carpet fibers. And DON'T forget the baseboards...you don't need to do that every time you vacuum...but don't forget them altogether either. Use the tools that came with your vacuum to get into the hard-to-reach places
One pass is not going to be enough - especially in our sandy beach areas on Cape Cod. It's better to go over each section a couple of times to ensure that you have gotten to the ground in dirt. It's also suggested to divide the room into sections and complete each section before moving along to the next
To vacuum wall-to-wall carpeting, divide the floor into quadrants and vacuum an entire quadrant before moving on to the next.
Pay special attention to high traffic areas...that is, areas where people sit and move their feet. Vacuum these areas with overlapping back and forth motions.
Adding a little potpourri or baking soda to the bag or vessel in your vacuum offers some nice scent-filled aroma to your rooms.
SPILLS.......BLOT do NOT RUB a spill as soon as it happens. Then give your professional carpet steaming company (Mashpee Carpet Steaming at 781.228.2657) a call to take care of any residuals so the spot does not become a stain.
